Angola Service Area on I-90 Now Open with New Dining Options and Modern Amenities
The Angola Service Area on I-90 has reopened with various dining options including Shake Shack and Chick-fil-A. This marks the 26th service area to be redeveloped as part of a $450 million investment. Amenities include outdoor seating, EV chargers, and dog areas, enhancing the experience for travelers along the Thruway.
The Angola Service Area on I-90 has officially opened, as announced by the New York State Thruway Authority. This opening marks the 26th service area to be redeveloped under a significant $450 million investment aimed at modernizing all 27 service areas along the Thruway. The newly opened Angola Service Area features a variety of dining options, including Shake Shack, Chick-fil-A, and Panda Express, with Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon set to open soon. Additionally, there are three Starbucks, with one in the restaurant building and two Drive-Thru locations in both the eastbound and westbound parking lots, along with an Applegreen convenience store and Taste NY food and drink products.
Moreover, the Angola Service Area provides various amenities to enhance traveler comfort. Facilities include outdoor seating, a dog walking area on both sides of the highway, a private nursing area, and a digital tourism kiosk. Notably, the area will also offer four Level 3 high-speed EV chargers, which will be available at a later date. The Thruway Authority has confirmed that all service areas along I-90 from Albany to the Pennsylvania state line are now operational.
Frank G. Hoare, Esq., Executive Director of the Thruway Authority, emphasized the project’s importance, stating, “We’ve reached another milestone in the Service Area Redevelopment Project, as motorists can now enjoy a seamless trip on the Thruway with every new service area open from Albany to the Pennsylvania state line. The project is nearing completion with one location left to open, and it marks the Thruway Authority’s commitment to modernizing our transportation system and enhancing safety and reliability on the system.”
