During a discussion on Joy Prime on March 17, 2025, he elaborated on the mandate given to his committee by President Mahama, emphasizing ongoing collaboration with the president regarding their progress.

Prof. Prempeh shared that the committee recently updated President Mahama on their initiatives, seeking his insights drawn from his previous leadership experience. He stated, “Our report will be submitted to the president, who initiated our appointments. Two weeks ago, we had the opportunity to meet with him as our first stakeholder.”

While acknowledging the president’s role, Prof. Prempeh clarified that the final decisions rest upon Parliament. He remarked, “Of course, the President doesn’t hold the keys, he is only one of the gatekeepers.” He explained that post-presidential clearance, the proposed reforms would need to be legislated as a bill and passed by Parliament.

The professor noted that changes involving non-entrenched provisions can be legislated more easily, while entrenched clauses will require comprehensive national engagement for broader acceptance. Furthermore, he highlighted the necessity of consulting relevant stakeholders during the review process.

He affirmed, “If we are going to reset, the way of doing things in this place must change, that is a resetting for me.” He expressed confidence that the president holds the responsibility to meet the promises made, and he passionately believes this entire process will result in significant improvements for the nation.
