United Nations Voices Concern Over US Military Strikes in Yemen

The UN has voiced concern over US strikes in Yemen, calling for all parties to stop military operations. The strikes have resulted in casualties, compounded by Houthi threats against Red Sea shipping. The United Nations has expressed concern regarding recent United States strikes targeting Yemeni territories controlled by the Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis. UN Secretary-General representative, Stephane Dujarric, issued a statement urging all involved parties to halt military operations in the region.

Dujarric noted, “We note with concern the United States’ multiple strikes on Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, which have resulted in deaths and casualties.” Additionally, he highlighted apprehensions over the Houthis’ ongoing threats to resume attacks on maritime traffic in the Red Sea, advocating for utmost restraint and cessation of hostilities.

The UN emphasized that any further military escalation could heighten regional tensions, leading to new retaliatory actions. Such developments may destabilize Yemen further and pose significant risks to the already critical humanitarian situation in the nation.
