Lebanon’s Information Minister, Paul Morcos, engaged in discussions with Costanza Farina, UNESCO’s Regional Office Director in Beirut, at the headquarters of Télé Liban. Accompanying her were UNESCO officials including Georges Awad, the Media and Communications Officer, and the Head of the Media Education Unit.
The agenda covered ongoing collaborations between UNESCO and the Ministry of Information, with a focus on an upcoming meeting scheduled for March 19. Key topics included efforts to combat hate speech, formulating a national policy against fake news, and addressing matters related to artificial intelligence.
Minister Morcos highlighted the productive nature of the meeting, mentioning, “We discussed several key points regarding securing the support that has been repeatedly deliberated. We reached clear outcomes, including the imminent delivery of several cameras and specialized equipment for archiving Télé Liban’s historical footage, which is a valuable asset for the Lebanese people. The date has been set for March 19.”
