Resolution of Dispute Between MPs Al-Jarrah and Al-Baqa’i in House of Representatives
The House of Representatives has resolved the dispute between MPs Muhammad Al-Jarrah and Qassem Al-Baqa’i. An apology from Al-Jarrah followed a physical altercation that stemmed from personal and political tensions related to Al-Jarrah’s expulsion from the Labor Party. A parliamentary delegation intervened to facilitate reconciliation.
The recent session of the House of Representatives marked the resolution of the dispute between Members of Parliament Muhammad Al-Jarrah and Qassem Al-Baqa’i. This reconciliation was brought about following an apology from MP Al-Jarrah directed to both his colleague, Al-Baqa’i, and the House of Representatives as an institution.
This conflict initially arose last Tuesday, when MP Al-Jarrah attempted to assault MP Al-Baqa’i in his office at the Parliament. Observers note that the tension between the two stakeholders stemmed from MP Al-Jarrah’s expulsion from the Labor Party, of which Al-Baqa’i serves as the deputy secretary-general. During discussions, Al-Jarrah accused Al-Baqa’i of “insulting” him in relation to the reasons for his removal from the party.
The disagreement intensified into physical confrontation, leading to an incident where MP Al-Jarrah physically assaulted his colleague. In a bid to mediate and resolve the situation, a parliamentary delegation, led by MP Saleh Al-Armouti and comprising seven other MPs, visited MP Al-Baqa’i at his residence last night, facilitating the apology from Al-Jarrah and bringing the dispute to an official conclusion.
In essence, the House of Representatives has successfully resolved the conflict between MPs Al-Jarrah and Al-Baqa’i, averting further escalation. The intervention by the parliamentary delegation was pivotal in facilitating an apology, allowing both parties to move forward constructively. This incident underscores the importance of diplomacy within political settings to mitigate conflicts.
