In his acceptance speech, Modi expressed that the honor pays tribute to the historic bonds of kinship between the two nations. He acknowledged the contributions of Indians who migrated to Mauritius centuries ago, stating, “Through their hard work, they wrote a golden chapter in the development of Mauritius and contributed to its vibrant diversity.”

He has been honored by over 15 nations, having received accolades like Saudi Arabia’s Order of King Abdul Aziz and the United Arab Emirates’ Order of Zayed.
This ceremony marks Modi’s second attendance as chief guest at Mauritius’s National Day celebrations. Following the event, he visited Ganga Talao, where he immersed holy water from the Triveni Sangam, demonstrating not only spiritual unity but also commitment to the preservation of their shared cultural heritage, as affirmed by India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
