Petrobras Explores Opportunities in Argentina While Progressing in Colombia and Africa

Meanwhile, it is developing an offshore gas project in Colombia and planning exploratory drilling in Africa.

Petrobras, the Brazilian state-owned oil company, is exploring potential opportunities in Argentina while also progressing in its projects in Colombia and Africa, as stated by Sylvia dos Anjos, head of exploration and production. The gas reserves from the Vaca Muerta region are of particular interest to Petrobras, as a pipeline system linking Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil could facilitate their transportation.

Moreover, Petrobras is considering oil exploration in Argentina as part of its strategy to augment oil reserves internationally amidst challenges in acquiring environmental licenses for drilling within Brazil. In Colombia, the company is in the process of developing an offshore project that has identified approximately 6 trillion cubic feet of gas, contingent upon receiving government approval.

Anjos indicated that the project would contribute about 13 million cubic meters per day of gas through pipelines to Colombia. In Africa, Petrobras expects to initiate exploratory drilling in oil wells in São Tomé and Príncipe, planned for July and August, with additional drilling anticipated in South Africa during the latter half of the year.
