Bangladesh’s Political Future Is in the Hands of Its People: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir declared that Bangladesh’s political future rests solely with its populace. During an Iftar event with foreign diplomats, he called for international respect for sovereignty and non-interference while promoting collective development through democratic engagement and liberal trade partnerships.

On March 6, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), articulated that the political destiny of Bangladesh must solely be determined by its people. In his speech during an Iftar gathering with foreign diplomats in Dhaka, he emphasized the party’s commitment to democracy, accountability, rule of law, good governance, justice, and humanity.

Fakhrul expressed hope that international allies would honor fundamental principles like non-interference, sovereignty, and peaceful conflict resolution for shared progress. He stressed the importance of enhancing collaboration through democracy and fostering liberal trade partnerships while promoting greater interpersonal connections in the region.

During the event, he was joined by various diplomats, including prominent representatives such as the British High Commissioner, the former US Ambassador, and ambassadors from several countries.

The gathering was attended by numerous diplomats from countries such as Germany, China, India, and many others, along with representatives from international organizations, including UN agencies. Following the Iftar and Maghrib prayers, the diplomats participated in a dinner hosted by the BNP Secretary General.
