TikTok’s ‘Safer Together’ Initiative Enhances Digital Literacy in Iraq

TikTok, in partnership with the INSM Foundation for Digital Rights, has initiated the “Safer Together” program in Iraq to enhance digital awareness and media literacy among younger audiences. This initiative is directed towards Iraqi youth aged 13-18, alongside their families and educators, with the goal of reaching over 33,250 participants across 15 provinces. It incorporates interactive workshops and educational materials that are thoughtfully adapted to local cultural contexts in both Arabic and Kurdish.

Fatih Kafadar, who oversees Government Relations and Public Policy for Turkiye and the Levant at TikTok, stated the platform’s commitment to creating a safe digital environment. He remarked, “Our goal is to ensure TikTok remains a secure and supportive space for young users,” underlining the significance of digital awareness in empowering young users.

Hayder Hamzoz, the Executive Director of the INSM Foundation, expressed that building a safe and informed digital atmosphere is crucial. He emphasized, “By equipping youth, parents, and educators with these skills, we foster responsible online engagement and enhance community resilience,” reflecting the core objectives of the program.
