Consolidated Bank Ghana Enhances Water Accessibility for Underserved Communities
Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD has initiated a project to install boreholes in underserved areas of Ghana as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. This initiative aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in ensuring water and sanitation access. With twenty-six boreholes constructed, the project aims to improve public health and living conditions in disadvantaged communities.
Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD (CBG) has initiated a project aimed at providing boreholes in disadvantaged regions across Ghana. This initiative is part of the Bank’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 6, which advocates for the accessibility and management of water and sanitation for all individuals.
Access to clean water is essential for maintaining health, improving education, and facilitating economic growth. Despite its importance, numerous communities in Ghana continue to rely on unsafe water sources, which can lead to serious health risks and impair potential development. In response, CBG has engaged local communities to determine their needs and develop sustainable solutions as part of its CSR strategy.
The Bank has successfully constructed twenty-six boreholes in various communities within the Lambussie, Sissala East, Wa West, Techiman South, and Oti Regions. These boreholes provide access to clean water, thereby improving public health and the overall quality of life for residents. Notable communities benefiting from this initiative include Nchumuru, Asempa Akura, Odeefo, and many others.
This borehole initiative signifies CBG’s dedication to enhancing living conditions for underprivileged communities and is a step towards fostering a sustainable and just world. Community leaders have expressed their deep gratitude for the Bank’s efforts, noting that access to clean water will greatly improve daily activities in their lives.
A local chief remarked, “Water is life. With access to clean water, our children will be healthier, and we will be able to focus more on education and business.”
The boreholes were strategically placed in areas of greatest need, ensuring that thousands benefit from reliable access to clean water. Mr. Daniel Wilson Addo, the Managing Director of CBG, expressed his satisfaction with the Bank’s role in facilitating access to this fundamental human right and stressed its importance in safeguarding health.
He stated, “Access to clean water is not merely a convenience; it is vital for health. Unfortunately, many still face the challenges and dangers of unsafe water sources. This initiative reflects our commitment to changing that narrative.”
He encouraged local communities to assume responsibility for the maintenance of these resources to foster long-lasting positive impacts.
Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD has successfully launched a borehole project to address water accessibility in underserved communities across Ghana. The initiative not only reflects the Bank’s commitment to social responsibility but also significantly enhances the quality of life for many individuals. By ensuring reliable access to clean water, CBG aims to improve health outcomes and promote educational and economic development in these regions.
