The construction of a market stall for village women sparked controversy, but Wongbe defended it as a necessary response to their needs. He recounted how he met women selling in adverse conditions and took action to address their plight. This development is part of a larger marketplace initiative, including facilities for storage and sanitation, along with provision of micro-loans to empower these women. “This was not a political stunt—it was about dignity and empowerment,” he asserted.

Wongbe confirmed he will not seek to run in the upcoming senatorial elections, citing concerns regarding the fragile state of Liberia’s economy.
