ACUD and Algerian Embassy Finalize Deal for New Headquarters in New Capital
ACUD and the Algerian Embassy have signed a land sale agreement for 23,316 sqm in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital for the construction of a new embassy headquarters. This move aims to transform Egypt’s diplomatic landscape by centralizing foreign embassies and enhancing services. The agreement was signed by key officials from both entities, marking a step in relocating multiple embassies to the new capital.
The Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) and the Algerian Embassy in Cairo have formalized a land sale agreement for two plots encompassing 23,316 square meters. This area is designated for the establishment of the new embassy headquarters and the ambassador’s residence within the Diplomatic District of the New Administrative Capital.
The agreement was executed by Khaled Abbas, Chairperson and Managing Director of ACUD, alongside Mohamed Sofiane Berrah, Algeria’s Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, in the presence of high-ranking officials from ACUD.
Ambassador Berrah remarked, “The project represents a transformative step for Egypt, helping to ease congestion, enhance services, and reduce the burden on Cairo.” He highlighted the alignment of the embassy’s relocation with directives from the leadership of both nations and expressed gratitude to ACUD for their cooperation in this project.
Chairperson Abbas also expressed appreciation for Ambassador Berrah, stating, “We are pleased to sign this agreement as a step towards relocating the embassy to the Diplomatic District of the New Administrative Capital. The presence of Algeria’s embassy will further enrich the diplomatic hub of the city.”
The master plan for the inaugural phase of the New Administrative Capital includes a Diplomatic District, intended to accommodate all foreign embassies and diplomatic missions currently situated throughout Cairo. This agreement with the Algerian Embassy is instrumental in continuing the relocation trend of embassies to the New Administrative Capital.
The broader initiative to relocate these missions aims to establish the New Administrative Capital as Egypt’s premier diplomatic center. The signing of the agreement with the Algerian Embassy underscores the ongoing commitment to this objective, building upon previous agreements with various other embassies and diplomatic entities.
The recent land sale agreement between ACUD and the Algerian Embassy marks a significant advancement in the effort to relocate diplomatic missions to Egypt’s New Administrative Capital. This initiative is a vital component of Egypt’s broader strategy to develop a centralized diplomatic hub, enhancing administrative efficiency and alleviating congestion in Cairo. The ongoing collaboration between both nations reflects a commitment to mutual diplomatic relations and service improvement.
