Egypt Reiterates Rejection of Palestinian Displacement in Gaza
Egyptian leaders reaffirm their rejection of displacing Palestinians from Gaza. Prime Minister Madbouly and President El-Sisi emphasize support for Palestinian rights and statehood based on historical borders. The Egyptian government warns against policies that would lead to forced displacement, highlighting its stance on social justice and support for the Palestinian cause.
On March 1, 2025, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt’s firm stance against any plans to displace the Palestinian people from their land in the Gaza Strip. This declaration was made during a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohamed Mustafa in Cairo, where Madbouly reiterated Egypt’s strong support for the legitimate rights of Palestinians, including their right to self-determination and establishing an independent state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi had previously declared that displacing Palestinians from Gaza would constitute an injustice in which Egypt will not partake. In a joint press conference with Kenyan President William Ruto earlier, Sisi expressed concerns about the impact of the ongoing Israeli conflict in Gaza that began in October 2023, warning against making living conditions unbearable, which might lead to the forced displacement of Palestinians.
Sisi articulated, “The historical injustice inflicted upon the Palestinians, along with their previous displacement from areas that were assured for their possible return after reconstruction, cannot be allowed to happen again.” He emphasized that if any attempt at displacement occurred, the Egyptian populace would rise in protest, urging people not to participate in injustices.
In conclusion, Egypt continues to assert its definitive opposition to the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, emphasizing support for their rights and statehood. Both Prime Minister Madbouly and President El-Sisi have expressed that Egypt will not tolerate efforts aimed at displacing the Palestinian population, reinforcing the country’s commitment to justice and territorial integrity for Palestinians.
