NEITI and OrderPaper are launching the Rembinar dialogue series, focusing on Nigeria’s tax reforms and their implications for the extractive sector. This virtual platform aims to enhance transparency and accountability in resource governance. The inaugural episode will feature key experts to discuss relevant tax bills.
The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) is collaborating with OrderPaper to introduce the Rembinar dialogue series, a virtual forum dedicated to discussions surrounding transparency, accountability, and the governance of natural resources. This series intends to highlight and analyze the tax reform initiatives of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly in their relation to the extractive sector.
Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, the executive secretary of NEITI, remarked on the significance of the Rembinar series, stating it emerges at a pivotal moment for governance in Nigeria, coinciding with extensive tax and fiscal reforms. NEITI aims to utilize this dialogue series to actively engage with stakeholders in promoting accountability within Nigeria’s natural resource governance.
Oke Epia, the executive director of OrderPaper, urged all stakeholders involved in public finance management to participate, emphasizing OrderPaper’s role in policy reforms and stakeholder engagement within the resource governance domain. The inaugural episode, entitled ‘Tax Bills and the Implications for NEITI Audits,’ is scheduled for March and will welcome notable speakers, including Orji Ogbonnaya Orji and Mike Uzoigwe, a policy expert in natural resource governance.
In summary, the collaboration between NEITI and OrderPaper through the Rembinar dialogue series aims to foster discussions on critical issues such as tax reforms and resource governance in Nigeria. This initiative is designed to facilitate stakeholder engagement and promote transparency in fiscal policies amidst ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
