Kuwait Calls for Global Action to Uphold Palestinian Rights at UNHRC
During the 58th session of the UNHRC, Kuwait urged the international community to protect Palestinian rights. Ambassador Naser Abdullah Al-Hayen called for an end to hostilities and for unhindered humanitarian assistance, while condemning Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. Kuwait reaffirmed its support for a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and Other International Organizations in Geneva, Naser Abdullah Al-Hayen, has called upon the global community to fulfill its duty in safeguarding the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. During an interactive dialogue with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights at the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), he emphasized the urgent need to cease hostilities within the occupied Palestinian territories and to ensure unimpeded humanitarian assistance delivery.
Ambassador Al-Hayen expressed significant concerns regarding Israel’s ongoing and serious violations of international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter. He highlighted the dire conditions in the Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank, underscoring that these areas have experienced unprecedented atrocities, extensive damage to infrastructure, and forcible civilian evictions, notably in the Jenin refugee camp.
Reiterating Kuwait’s commitment to humanitarian principles, the Ambassador condemned the application of double standards in addressing these issues. Furthermore, he reaffirmed Kuwait’s steadfast support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, consistent with United Nations resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.
Kuwait’s call at the UNHRC underscores the urgent need for international accountability regarding the rights of Palestinians. It stresses the importance of humanitarian aid access and condemns the ongoing violations by Israel in the occupied territories. Kuwait continues to advocate for a sovereign Palestinian state, reflecting its commitment to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through established international frameworks.
