Morocco and Central African Republic Strengthen Military Collaboration

General Mohammed Berrid of the Royal Armed Forces met with General Zéphirin Mamadou of the Central African Armed Forces in Rabat to discuss military collaboration, focusing on training initiatives and peacekeeping roles. The Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces of Morocco, General Mohammed Berrid, engaged in discussions today in Rabat with General Zéphirin Mamadou, Chief of Staff of the Central African Armed Forces. This meeting, part of General Mamadou’s official visit to Morocco from January 17 to 23, facilitated a dialogue on enhancing military cooperation, particularly in training initiatives and collaborative exchanges.

During their meeting at the FAR’s General Staff headquarters, both parties reinforced the strong partnership between the Moroccan forces and the Central African Armed Forces. General Mamadou took the opportunity to extend his heartfelt appreciation to King Mohammed VI for the unwavering support extended to the Central African Armed Forces.

He highlighted the significant contributions of Morocco’s military contingent and their vital role in stabilization efforts under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). Subsequently, General Mamadou met with Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government responsible for the National Defense Administration, to discuss the further strengthening of bilateral ties and explore additional avenues for collaboration.

Morocco has actively participated in peacekeeping in the Central African Republic since 2014, deploying 750 soldiers as part of the MINUSCA mission. This initiative aligns with Morocco’s objective to enhance its military capabilities through strategic international partnerships. By focusing on joint training and peacekeeping missions, Morocco not only fortifies its defense capabilities but also solidifies important alliances.

The discussions held between Moroccan and Central African military leaders emphasize the importance of international collaboration in defense.
