Martha Karua Rebrands NARC-Kenya to People’s Liberation Party

Martha Karua has rebranded the NARC-Kenya Party to the People’s Liberation Party, emphasizing political unity and service delivery with the involvement of notable leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Rigathi Gachagua. The party introduced new colors, a new slogan, and a new symbol, targeting Generation Z to enhance political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.

Martha Karua, leader of the NARC-Kenya Party, has officially rebranded her political organization as the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) during an event held in Nairobi on February 27. This launch was attended by notable figures including Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Rigathi Gachagua, who collectively underscored the importance of political unity and dedicated service from elected leaders.

In her remarks, Ms. Karua highlighted that unity is essential for progress in the liberation movement, stating, “The call for unity is the foundation of the liberation movement and our commitment today is to do just that.” Likewise, Mr. Musyoka emphasized the necessity of an actionable agenda for their coalition, asserting that unity should not merely aim to displace leaders due to perceived misrule.

Rigathi Gachagua urged the youth to engage actively in the electoral process by registering to vote ahead of the 2027 general elections. He remarked, “The real transformation of this country will happen on the ballot, Gen-Z, register as voters and on the election day wake up early and go vote to elect the leaders you want. We will support you.”

With the rebranding, the People’s Liberation Party introduced new colors—purple, lilac, and white—replacing the previous red, white, and green associated with NARC-Kenya. The party also adopted a new slogan, “Unite” and “Liberate,” departing from the former slogan, “One Kenya, One Nation, One People.” Additionally, the party symbol transitioned from a red rose to a purple rose.

Karua explained that these changes in color and branding do not signify a departure from the party’s original mission established in 2006. She noted that the refreshed identity aims to connect more effectively with Generation Z, a demographic expected to significantly impact the forthcoming election. This rebranding follows Wamalwa’s recent launch of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) headquarters and underscores the ongoing efforts to form a unified political alliance among the partners involved.
