On October 30, 2024, the Congolese government donated 200 boxes of Plumpy Nut to support the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ malnutrition project. On October 30, 2024, the Congolese government, represented by the National Nutrition Program (PRONANUT), donated two hundred boxes of therapeutic food, Plumpy Nut, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for distribution to malnourished children. Each box contains 150 packets, which will be provided to children who were identified as malnourished during a screening campaign conducted in July 2024 at the Kimbanseke Stake, organized by the Church’s humanitarian services.
In a collaborative effort, twenty-two children who underwent screening received immediate assistance, including packets of Plumpy Nut and vials of Amoxicillin. This initiative underscores the commitment of both PRONANUT and the Church to combat child malnutrition and enhance the health of vulnerable children in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is amplifying its efforts to support women and children under five years old across the globe, with a particular focus on the Democratic Republic of Congo.
