Iranian Officials Warn Against Israel’s Breaches of Lebanon Ceasefire

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has cautioned against Israel’s continuous violations of the Lebanon ceasefire, emphasizing the need to prevent these violations from becoming routine. Despite the ceasefire arrangement intended for a 60-day period, Israeli strikes continue to threaten stability in Lebanon. Qalibaf reaffirmed Iran’s support for Lebanon amid reports of Takfiri group activities in Syria.

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, has issued a warning regarding Israel’s ongoing violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon. In a conversation with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Qalibaf emphasized the necessity to prevent these violations from becoming standard conduct. The ceasefire, established following a protracted conflict with Hezbollah, was a response to significant Israeli casualties and was brokered by the United States and France. It is intended to last for 60 days, aiming for a permanent resolution to the hostilities.

Recent reports indicate that despite the ceasefire, Israeli airstrikes have continued, with a recent attack in southern Lebanon injuring at least three individuals, including a child. Qalibaf acknowledged the efforts of Berri in facilitating the ceasefire amidst challenging circumstances and reaffirmed Iran’s steadfast support for Lebanon, expressing commitment to the nation’s government, parliament, and resistance efforts. He also pointed out that recent activities of Takfiri groups in Syria are designed to serve Israeli interests.

Tensions in the region remain high, as new clashes between militant groups and Syrian forces have emerged, particularly in key areas of Aleppo. Amid these developments, Berri commended Iran’s assistance in confronting Israeli aggression, reaffirming that Lebanon’s situation in regions such as Beqaa and Dahiyeh is stable and noting the return of approximately 1.3 million Lebanese refugees to their homes.

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah was a significant development following over 14 months of intense conflict, during which Israel faced substantial losses. The situation in Lebanon has been compounded by ongoing Israeli military actions, which continue to undermine the ceasefire’s integrity. The role of Iran in supporting Lebanon both politically and militarily has been pivotal in the nation’s resilience against external threats, particularly from Israel. Additionally, the presence of Takfiri terrorist groups in Syria poses further challenges to regional stability, necessitating coordinated efforts to mitigate such threats.

In conclusion, the warnings issued by Iranian officials regarding Israel’s disregard for the ceasefire highlight the fragile nature of peace in the region. The Iranian Parliament constantly reaffirms its support for Lebanon amidst ongoing tensions and challenges posed by hostile entities. Regional coordination and vigilance are crucial to ensuring that recent achievements in establishing peace are not undermined.
