The group has been temporarily relocated to Azerbaijan for safety and is expected to be safe in Baku awaiting further transportation home. Recently appointed as the ambassador to Iran, Roy was with the citizens as they crossed into Astara at the Iran-Azerbaijan border late Saturday evening. While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the situation closely and coordinating evacuations, they have noted that for security reasons, they cannot provide extensive details about the operation at this time, as keeping evacuees safe remains a priority.
