J.D. Vance States India-Pakistan Conflict Is “None of Our Business”

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance states that the conflict between India and Pakistan is “none of our business,” advocating for de-escalation without direct U.S. involvement. In a recent interview with Fox News, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance expressed that the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan is “fundamentally none of our business.” He emphasized, along with President Donald Trump, the United States’ commitment to encouraging both nations to de-escalate. Vance stated, “What we can do is try to encourage these folks to de-escalate a little bit, but we’re not going to get involved in the middle of a war that’s fundamentally none of our business.”

Vance stressed that America lacks the authority to persuade either India or Pakistan to abandon their military engagements. He added, “You know, America can’t tell the Indians to lay down their arms. We can’t tell the Pakistanis to lay down their arms,” indicating a clear stance on U.S. non-interference in this conflict. Diplomatic efforts will be the avenue taken by the U.S. to address the conflict, he noted.

The Vice President conveyed hope that the situation would not escalate into a broader regional war or a nuclear conflict, saying, “Our hope and our expectation is that this is not going to spiral into a broader regional war or, God forbid, a nuclear conflict.” His comments surfaced amid recent hostilities following a failed attack by Pakistan on military establishments in Jammu and other areas, which India effectively neutralized through its air defense systems.

Earlier, President Trump also remarked on the tensions between the two countries, suggesting they need to “stop” the tit-for-tat actions they have been engaging in. Trump offered U.S. assistance in easing tensions, saying, “Oh it’s so terrible… I want to see them work it out,” highlighting his relationships with both nations as beneficial. This observation came after India conducted strikes targeting terror locations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for an earlier attack that killed 26 individuals in Pahalgam, India.

Simultaneously, during the increase in conflict, the Pakistan army engaged in artillery shelling aimed at villages along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, suggesting a heightening of military actions on both sides.
