Supporters Rally in Saipan for Former President Duterte’s Release

He emphasized the importance of continued prayers for Duterte’s return, urging the Marcos administration to act in the people’s best interest. Zayko reiterated her call for a re-evaluation of Duterte’s status by the ICC, stating, “Duterte is a good president. Please, he helped a lot of people. So much people that he helped, please release him.”

Lopez argued the ICC’s actions were illegal, claiming that the Philippines ceased its relationship with the court in 2019. Duterte’s arrest was part of an ICC warrant linked to alleged crimes against humanity during his controversial drug war. Joselito Espino remarked on the illegality of extrajudicial killings during Duterte’s presidency, stressing the need for justice for the victims. Meanwhile, Darwin Gonzales defended the ICC’s actions, stating that due process was followed and asserting that Duterte will have an opportunity to defend himself in court, affirming the importance of a lawful process in addressing such serious accusations.
