The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan have accused the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) of conducting airstrikes on the Tora market in North Darfur, resulting in over 100 fatalities and numerous injuries. These tragic events were reported north of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. The SAF has yet to respond to these allegations, as noted by the Xinhua news agency citing the Sudan Tribune.

United Nations spokesperson Stephane Dujarric expressed deep concern regarding the ongoing attacks on civilians, referencing the recent airstrike in Tora and a separate artillery strike by the RSF on a mosque in Khartoum. The situation highlights the dire humanitarian crises occurring amid the conflict.

Moreover, the SAF has made public their control map, delineating territories held by both themselves and the RSF for the first time amid the ongoing hostilities. The military stated that they, alongside regular forces and public support, are engaged in efforts to suppress militias to restore stability.

The control map indicated areas marked in green that are under SAF control, which includes several states such as Northern, Blue Nile, and Red Sea. In contrast, RSF-controlled regions, notably West, South, and East Darfur, were marked in red. Notably, the army has achieved territorial advances, particularly in regions around Khartoum.

Since early 2024, the SAF has expanded its territorial gains, reclaiming Greater Omdurman and reverting some strategic advantages in the capital. These escalating military operations have significantly shifted the power balance in favor of the army, amidst an ongoing conflict that has already resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and severe displacement.
