The President received Ambassadors Edgar Rodrigo Rojas Garavito, Sin Saream, and Yuliia Oleksandrivna Fediv at Malacañan Palace during separate ceremonies on Tuesday, emphasizing the potential for collaboration in various sectors.
In his discussion with Ambassador Rojas Garavito, Marcos highlighted the shared goal of fostering “lasting peace and development” between Colombia and the Philippines, who established diplomatic ties on July 5, 1946. Approximately 100 Filipinos reside in Colombia, reflecting the existing connection between the nations.
Marcos conveyed his enthusiasm for strengthening bilateral ties with Cambodia, recognizing the longstanding foundation between the two countries. He welcomed Ambassador Sin Saream, expressing a desire to reinforce their already strong relationship. As of June 2024, around 7,500 Filipinos live in Cambodia.
Ambassador Fediv of Ukraine assured her commitment to developing bilateral relations, prioritizing “peace, prosperity, and mutual respect.” President Marcos reiterated the Philippines’ support for Ukraine’s pursuit of peace amidst ongoing challenges. Formal diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Ukraine were established on April 7, 1992, and there are currently about 24 Filipinos living in Ukraine.
