Wang Yi Meets Bolivian Foreign Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Wang highlighted the fruitful discussion that took place last November between President Xi Jinping and President Luis Arce, which bolstered mutual trust and established a roadmap for advancing bilateral relationships.

This year commemorates significant milestones, including the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Bolivia and the 200th anniversary of Bolivia’s independence. Wang reaffirmed China’s commitment to collaborating with Bolivia to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation, elevate the strategic partnership, and support Chinese enterprises in investing within Bolivia to foster development and improve the standard of living for its people.

Moreover, Wang congratulated Bolivia on becoming a BRICS partner country, underscoring China’s backing for Bolivia’s enhanced role in both regional and international spheres. He emphasized the perspective that Latin America belongs to its people, asserting support for Latin American nations to uphold their sovereignty, independence, and national dignity while respecting Bolivia’s legitimate rights. China aims to remain a dependable friend and partner to Latin America, especially in light of the forthcoming China-CELAC Forum’s 10th anniversary.

Minister Sosa described Bolivia and China as “good brothers and good partners,” referencing the significant cooperative potential in sectors such as economy, trade, science, technology, and resource development resulting from last year’s successful meeting between the heads of state. Sosa welcomed increased Chinese investment to achieve mutual benefits and thanked China for its contributions to strengthening Bolivia’s capacity for independent development and amplifying its international standing. She emphasized Bolivia’s commitment to prioritizing its relationship with China, adherence to the one-China principle, and aspirations to enrich cooperation through the China-CELAC Forum and BRICS initiatives.
