Vietnam Considers Mozambique a Priority Partner in Africa

This statement was made by Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique, Tran Thi Thu Thin, during her credential presentation to Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo on March 19 in Maputo.
President Chapo congratulated Ambassador Thin on her new role, expressing confidence in her capacity to enhance relations between the two countries. He noted the historical progress of bilateral ties, highlighting the success of Movitel—a partnership between Vietnam’s Viettel Group and Mozambique’s SPI company—as a prime example of effective collaboration. Chapo expressed his hope for increased investment from Vietnamese enterprises in Mozambique.
Ambassador Thin reiterated her commitment to fortifying the friendship and diversifying cooperation, particularly in emerging sectors such as mining, telecommunications, information technology, and digital transformation. She appealed to the Mozambican government for support of the Vietnamese community residing in the country, which would further enhance the bond between the nations.
Additionally, Ambassador Thin conveyed her best wishes from Party General Secretary To Lam and State President Luong Cuong to President Chapo on his recent election as Chairman of the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) and subsequent presidential inauguration. She invited President Chapo to visit Vietnam in the near future.
