Sergei Shoigu, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, arrived in Pyongyang for discussions with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. His visit aims to further the intentions expressed by Kim in the fall to enhance cooperation with Russia.

Upon his arrival on March 21, Shoigu participated in a ceremonial gesture by laying a wreath at a monument honoring Soviet soldiers. This suggests a focus on the historical ties between the two nations as they rekindle their partnership.

Earlier in February, North Korea indicated plans to collaborate with Russia on the production of unmanned aerial vehicles.
