Ruto Nominates Susan Nakhumicha to New Government Position

Susan Nakhumicha has been nominated by President William Ruto as Permanent Representative to the UN Habitat in Nairobi. Other nominations include positions in China, Tanzania, and Belgium. The nominations have been submitted to the National Assembly for approval.

Former Health Cabinet Secretary, Susan Nakhumicha, has been appointed to a new position within President William Ruto’s government, following the loss of her Cabinet role nine months ago. As announced by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, Nakhumicha will serve as the Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of Kenya to the United Nations Habitat in Nairobi.

In conjunction with Nakhumicha’s appointment, President Ruto nominated James Buyekane Muhati and Abdi Dubat Fidhow to the positions of Consul-Generals in Guangzhou, China, and Arusha, Tanzania, respectively. Additionally, Peter Tum has been nominated as the Kenyan Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, while Alfred K’Ombundo has been appointed as Deputy Head of Mission in Belgium.

According to Hussein Mohamed, the nominations are submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval, as stipulated by Article 132 (2) (e) of the Constitution, which governs such appointments. Nakhumicha’s nomination follows her recent appeal to the President for government appointment due to her reported financial difficulties.

In summary, Susan Nakhumicha has been appointed as the Permanent Representative of Kenya to the United Nations Habitat in Nairobi, along with several other diplomatic nominations by President Ruto. This appointment illustrates the ongoing reshuffling within the government, aimed at filling key positions abroad while addressing Nakhumicha’s previous requests for reemployment.
