Lactalis Invests $55 Million to Expand Dairy Operations in Brazil
Lactalis is investing 313 million reais ($55.3 million) to expand dairy production in Paraná, Brazil, coinciding with a decade of operations in the country. The investment will enhance output at the Londrina and Carambeí facilities. Over the past ten years, Lactalis has invested more than 710 million reais in Paraná, indicating a strong commitment to the local dairy market.
Lactalis, the France-headquartered dairy company, is investing 313 million reais (approximately $55.3 million) to expand its dairy production in Paraná, Brazil. This initiative coincides with the company celebrating ten years of operations in Brazil, with a commitment to enhancing its influence in the local milk supply chain. The funds will be utilized to establish a new UHT milk production line at the Londrina facility, along with expanding the Carambeí plant to increase the output of yogurts, fermented milk, dairy beverages, and desserts.
The projects were officially recognized through agreements with the Paraná state government on March 18, during a ceremony in Curitiba that was attended by Governor Ratinho Júnior and Lactalis’ CEO for Brazil, Roosevelt Junior. In the past decade, Lactalis has directed over 710 million reais into Paraná. Alongside its facilities in Londrina and Carambeí, the company also operates a plant in Pato Branco, with the Carambeí site being the largest employer among the three, providing 830 jobs.

This investment follows a previous announcement in November regarding a 250 million reais expansion plan in Minas Gerais, aimed at upgrading seven factories.
Moreover, Lactalis has logistics units in Contagem and an administrative office in Belo Horizonte, employing a total of 3,654 individuals. In March, Lactalis also disclosed a 100 million reais investment in Rio Grande do Sul to enhance operations at five local plants. Founded in 1933 and based in Laval, France, Lactalis is known for its brands, including Batavo, Président, and Elegê. The company is further expanding its footprint in South America, recently announcing its intended acquisition of Granja Pocha, a Uruguayan company producing cheese and yogurt under the Colonial brand, situated in Juan Lacaze, Uruguay.
