Interregional Economic Cooperation Discussed at International Conference in Ashgabat

The International Conference in Ashgabat on March 19, 2025, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, focused on interregional economic cooperation for sustainable development. On March 19, 2025, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan organized the International Conference titled “International Year of Peace and Trust: the Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development” in Ashgabat. In his remarks, he highlighted the geopolitical and geoeconomic importance of ongoing energy and infrastructure projects, aimed at creating new corridors that unite Central and South Asia. Hero-Arkadag concluded his speech by wishing the conference participants success in their discussions and initiatives.

The conference proceeded with thematic sessions covering various topics, including the geopolitical significance of energy projects and the role of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan gas pipeline in international economic cooperation. Discussions also encompassed transport development projects and the involvement of financial institutions in regional economic initiatives.

Key discussions illustrated Turkmenistan’s pivotal role in fostering interregional economic collaboration based on mutual respect and shared interests. The conference noted major projects initiated by Turkmenistan, such as the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India gas pipeline, underscoring their importance for economic integration.

A significant outcome of the conference was the adoption of a Final Document detailing agreements on trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Participants unanimously addressed their views in a formal Address to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, solidifying the conference’s resolutions.
