Rajendra Prabhulall, a respected figure from Anna Regina, has passed away. He was a dedicated pastor and notably served as an information officer in Region Two for many years before becoming the Mayor of Anna Regina for two terms. Prabhulall’s educational journey began at St Laurence Anglican School in Hampton Court, after which he embarked on a teaching career at the age of 17.
His teaching career commenced at Fisher Primary School in Golden Fleece in 1976. Subsequently, in 1980, he moved to Port Kaituma Primary School due to his father’s job relocation. After five years, he returned to the Essequibo Coast, where he continued his teaching at Sparta Primary School and later at St Laurence Anglican Primary School, now known as Hampton Court Primary School.
In search of better financial opportunities, Prabhulall transitioned from teaching to the position of manager at the Lima Fish Port Complex in 1992. His tenure there lasted five years until he was appointed as the Regional Information Officer with the Regional Democratic Council, a role he fulfilled until his retirement in 2015.
Despite retiring, Prabhulall chose to pursue a political career and successfully ran for Mayor of Anna Regina in 2018, winning re-election for a second term after his initial two-year term. He was also a pastor at the Voice of Faith Ministries, contributing significantly to his community.
The legacy of Rajendra Prabhulall is marked by his extensive service in education, community leadership, and religious vocation. His journey from teaching to municipal governance illustrates his commitment to public service and the betterment of his community.
