Qatar Engages in Arab League Meeting Addressing Israeli Aggression Against Palestinians
Qatar participated in an Arab League emergency session in Cairo to address Israeli aggression against Palestinians, responding to the recent violence that resulted in numerous casualties. The meeting sought to draft a resolution reinforcing the Cairo Declaration’s principles, emphasizing international responsibilities, and advocating for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
On Wednesday, the State of Qatar participated in the extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States, convened at the request of the State of Palestine. The meeting took place at the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo to address the pressing issue of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian population.
Led by His Excellency Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari, Qatar’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League, the discussion sought to highlight both Arab and international efforts to compel Israel to cease its violations of international law and respect resolutions on Palestine.
Ambassador Al Ansari remarked that the session followed a grave incident involving Israeli forces attacking Palestinian civilians during Ramadan. He described these actions as part of a broader campaign of genocide against defenseless Palestinians.
The purpose was to draft a resolution reflecting the principles of the Cairo Declaration from the Extraordinary Arab Summit held on March 4. The draft resolution specifically condemned the recent violence by Israeli forces and urged all nations to uphold their legal obligations as per prior resolutions.
Furthermore, the resolution underscored the significance of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, achieved through collaborative efforts between Qatar and Egypt, and called for its consolidation and effective implementation. Continuous engagement by relevant countries and the Arab Islamic Committee was also emphasized.
The need for this extraordinary session arose after a resurgence of violence by Israel, which has resulted in over 400 deaths and numerous injuries in Gaza, alongside the disruption of electricity and humanitarian aid deliveries to the region.
The extraordinary session highlighted Qatar’s diplomatic efforts and the Arab League’s commitment to addressing the ongoing crisis in Palestine. The meeting aimed to unify regional responses to Israeli aggression while calling upon the international community to fulfill its responsibilities. Emphasizing the importance of peace and human rights, it called for sustained dialogue and cooperation to uphold the ceasefire and address humanitarian needs.
