El Salvador’s President Bukele Responds to Trump’s Judicial Impeachment Call

Boasberg, who blocks deportations related to the Tren de Aragua case. After U.S. President Donald Trump called for the impeachment of a judge, Nayib Bukele, the President of El Salvador, commented on X, asserting that the United States is encountering a “judicial coup.” This sentiment garnered support from Elon Musk, who endorsed Bukele’s statement by sharing it and affirming, “1000%.”

Trump criticized Judge James E. Boasberg, nominated by former President Barack Obama, labeling him a “Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge” in a post on Truth Social. He demanded the judge’s impeachment, expressing disdain for what he perceives as unjust rulings that permit violent criminals to remain in the United States.

Recently, Trump highlighted the Alien Enemies Act as a basis for removing certain Venezuelan nationals associated with the criminal group Tren de Aragua, particularly targeting those not legally residing in the U.S. Despite Judge Boasberg’s attempt to block such removals, reports indicated that deportation flights proceeded before the ruling became effective.

As of Monday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the administration had deported 137 individuals under the Alien Enemies Act, with 261 illegal aliens transported to El Salvador. Bukele noted the arrival of the first 238 members of the Tren de Aragua, as well as 23 MS-13 members sent back to El Salvador.

In a follow-up statement after midnight, Trump reiterated his concerns regarding judicial overreach, asserting that if a president cannot expel dangerous criminals due to a judge’s interference, then the nation faces dire consequences. This underscores rising tensions between the executive branch and the judiciary amidst ongoing legal battles.
