On March 18, 2025, Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, met with the Honourable Mr. Paul Mashatile, Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa. This meeting lasted approximately 15 minutes and took place at 10:50 a.m. Mr. Mashatile was invited to Japan in light of significant events, such as South Africa’s G20 presidency and Japan’s hosting of TICAD 9.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi extended a warm welcome to Deputy President Mashatile and his delegation, marking the 115th anniversary of Japan-South Africa relations. He expressed satisfaction regarding the increasing high-level visits between the two countries, indicating a deepening bilateral cooperation in diverse areas, both public and private. In his response, Deputy President Mashatile expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit Japan and emphasized his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
