She stated, “You are free to use my image in the best interest of all.”

Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, emphasized the historical importance of this event, especially as Namibia prepares to inaugurate its first elected female president. She remarked, “This exercise was concluded a few weeks ago, and we are grateful that we are able to do it at this time.” Theofelus noted the political significance of official portraits in democracies, declaring that they play a role in establishing and maintaining the authority of leaders.

The minister added that in numerous democracies, portraits of national leaders are displayed in both governmental and non-governmental institutions, stating, “This practice helps stabilize the authority of the nation.” She also mentioned the ministry’s prior responsibility in capturing the first portrait of Nandi-Ndaitwah during her tenure as vice president in 2024, and acknowledged the Namibia Press Agency for producing the portrait. Nandi-Ndaitwah is expected to be inaugurated as Namibia’s first female president on Friday, marking a historic milestone in the nation’s timeline.
