Iraq and Libya Forge Cooperation in Election Management

The Chargé d’Affairs of the Iraqi embassy in Tripoli, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, engaged in discussions with Imad Al-Sayeh, the head of Libya’s National High Commission for Elections, regarding collaboration in election management and the enhancement of electoral staff efficiency.

Al-Sahaf stated that the Libyan Elections Commission welcomed the prospect of signing a memorandum of understanding with Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission, aiming to foster cooperation in electoral operations. The dialogue included exploring methods to share experiences in election management and the necessity of reciprocal visits to bolster democracy in both nations.

Emphasizing Iraq’s commitment to aiding Libya in fortifying its electoral process, Al-Sahaf acknowledged the Libyan Commission’s role in advancing the democratic path.
