Iran Condemns G7 Accusations as Baseless and Distortive

Iran has condemned accusations by the G7 as baseless, asserting that they distort the truth regarding its actions in the region. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson criticized the G7’s support for Israel and their accusations about Iran’s nuclear program. He emphasized Iran’s commitment to a nuclear-free West Asia while defending its rights to sovereignty and dialogue-based conflict resolution.

Iran has officially rejected the accusations made by the Group of Seven (G7) and the European Union, describing them as “completely baseless and deceitful.” Esmaeil Baghaei, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, expressed disapproval of the G7 foreign ministers’ claims, which he characterized as a clear distortion of reality and an act of calculated projection against Iran.

Baghaei criticized the G7 states for their illegal and interventionist actions in West Asia, particularly their military, financial, and political support for Israel. He insisted that these nations should be held accountable for their inappropriate behavior and their role in severe violations of international humanitarian law and human rights, especially in Palestine.

The foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States convened in Canada earlier in the week. They issued a statement accusing Iran of being a “principal source of regional instability” and asserting that the country must not acquire nuclear weapons, while also referencing Iran in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Baghaei defended Iran’s nuclear activities, asserting they comply with the nation’s industrial needs and international obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He dismissed the G7’s concerns as “unfounded,” attributing them to the political motives of specific bloc members.

He further noted Iran’s commitment to a nuclear weapons-free West Asia, emphasizing that Israel acts as the main barrier to achieving this objective. He claimed that, backed by G7 nations, Israel continues its developments of weapons of mass destruction and perpetrates serious human rights abuses in Gaza and the West Bank.

Baghaei reaffirmed Iran’s rights to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any threats, utilizing military defense capabilities if necessary. In response to G7 allegations concerning the Ukraine war, he reiterated Iran’s principled stance against conflict and commitment to resolving issues through dialogue, stating that Iran is not involved in the Ukraine conflict and urging critics to amend their own flawed policies.

In summation, Iran has categorically rejected the recent allegations from the G7 and the EU as unfounded and misleading. The criticisms focus not only on Iran’s perceived actions but also on the G7’s own involvement in regional instability. The Islamic Republic emphasises its right to defend itself while promoting a peaceful resolution to conflicts in accordance with international law. Additionally, Iran’s efforts for non-proliferation in West Asia are underscored as being obstructed by Israel’s actions.
