Interior Minister Receives Food Support and Supplies for Prisoners

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, received food supplies from the HUDAI Foundation to support inmates. This donation, part of their annual charity, included essential food items and underscores the organization’s commitment to humanitarian efforts in Ghana. HUDAI has also made substantial contributions to education, infrastructure, and clean water access in the country.

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has received essential food supplies from the Human Development Association International (HUDAI) Foundation. This Turkish-based organization is engaged in humanitarian efforts in Ghana. The donation, aimed at supporting inmates, is a part of the foundation’s annual charitable initiatives and included several food items.

Donated items, presented on March 14, 2025, comprised bags of rice, cooking oil, tomato paste, sugar, and spaghetti. The Minister expressed appreciation for the contribution on March 21, 2025, stating that it addresses the challenges faced by prisoners. He assured the public that these items would be utilized appropriately and encouraged further support from other organizations.

“Imprisonment is not a death sentence. Providing for inmates improves their well-being and aids in their rehabilitation,” the minister remarked. Remzi Şeker, General Coordinator of HUDAI Foundation, was represented by Project Coordinator Abdurahim Yüce, who reiterated the foundation’s commitment to humanitarian service motivated solely by goodwill.

As part of its Ramadan initiative, HUDAI has distributed over 8,000 food packages to families in need, including prisoners. The organization provided special packages for Muslims to break their fast after prayers. HUDAI Foundation’s contributions, supported by the Turkish government, extend beyond humanitarian aid to building infrastructure and educational facilities within Ghana.

The foundation constructed the Ghana National Mosque, which can accommodate 15,000 individuals, making it the second-largest mosque in West Africa. The complex includes a library, educational spaces, and health facilities. Additionally, HUDAI has constructed many boreholes, helping communities across all 16 regions of Ghana access clean water, and has supported the education sector by building schools.
