Cuban Foreign Minister Visits Nigeria to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla, recently visited Nigeria to enhance bilateral relations in various sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture, science and technology, and cultural exchange. This visit, recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its acting spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, emphasizes the historic friendship nurtured over decades between Nigeria and Cuba, grounded in mutual respect and cooperation.

A bilateral meeting is scheduled between Minister Rodríguez Parrilla and Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, to explore partnerships in the aforementioned sectors. This engagement aims to promote collaboration in addressing global challenges and advancing sustainable development through shared multilateral frameworks.

In addition to his discussions with Minister Tuggar, the Cuban Foreign Minister will meet Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, to convey a special message from Cuba’s Government. He is also slated to engage in high-level talks with the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, reinforcing diplomatic ties.

Both Nigeria and Cuba are active members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 plus China, sharing similar perspectives on critical global issues, including peace and security, a new international order, and sustainable development. The visit is deemed a pivotal step towards revitalizing Nigeria-Cuba relations and increasing South-South cooperation.
