Ambassador Kayumba Presents Credentials to CAR President Touadéra
Ambassador Olivier Kayumba presented his credentials as Rwanda’s Ambassador to CAR President Faustin-Archange Touadéra on March 17. Kayumba, who previously directed Rwanda’s diplomatic mission in CAR, will continue to strengthen the nations’ cooperative relationship, particularly regarding security sector reforms and peacekeeping initiatives.
On March 17, Ambassador Olivier Kayumba formally presented his letters of credence to President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of the Central African Republic (CAR), thereby assuming the role of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Rwanda, based in Bangui. Previously, Mr. Kayumba led Rwanda’s diplomatic mission in the CAR and was proposed for the ambassadorship in December 2022, following his tenure as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Emergency Management.
Rwanda and the Central African Republic have cultivated robust diplomatic relations, notably through Rwanda’s involvement in peacekeeping missions under the auspices of the United Nations. In addition to UN peacekeeping efforts, Rwanda has deployed troops in the CAR under a bilateral agreement, demonstrating its commitment to the region’s stability.
Furthermore, Rwanda is poised to assist the Central African Republic in crucial security sector reforms, which include training programs for CAR armed forces. This collaborative relationship is emblematic of individual nations’ dedication to fostering peace and enhancing security in the region.
