U.S. Delegation Tours Lebanese-Israeli Border; Israel Maintains Military Presence

A U.S. delegation recently visited the Lebanese-Israeli border, assessing the Lebanese Army’s measures and damage from prior Israeli assaults. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the military would remain in five southern positions indefinitely to secure northern residents and ordered fortifications at these sites amid ongoing border negotiations.

A high-ranking delegation from the United States Embassy in Beirut recently toured the eastern sector of the Lebanese-Israeli border. Accompanied by Brigadier General Tony Fares, the commander of the Lebanese Army’s 7th Brigade, the delegation evaluated the Lebanese Army’s activities in border towns as well as the damage inflicted by Israeli military operations during its previous assault on Lebanon.

On the Israeli side, Defense Minister Israel Katz declared that the Israeli Defense Forces would maintain a presence at five positions in southern Lebanon indefinitely. This decision aims to ensure the safety of residents in northern Israel, irrespective of the ongoing negotiations concerning the thirteen disputed border points. Katz has directed the military to strengthen its defenses at these strategic sites and to prepare for a prolonged deployment.
