CLG Workshop at the Congo Energy & Investment Forum 2025: Addressing Legal Challenges in Energy Investment

The Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF) will be held from March 24-26 in Brazzaville, featuring a workshop by CLG on legal solutions in Congo’s energy sector. The session aims to equip attendees with knowledge of legal frameworks affecting investment decisions. Key developments like the Gas Master Plan and international licensing rounds are set to enhance the region’s energy potential and attract investment.

The inaugural Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF) will be held from March 24-26 in Brazzaville. This event will feature a workshop led by the legal firm CLG, formerly known as Centurion Law Group, focusing on the unique challenges in Congo’s energy investment sector. The Republic of Congo has implemented various strategies to drive resource monetization and local capacity building, enhancing socioeconomic development in the region.

The workshop, titled “Mastering Business in Congo: Legal Challenges and Strategic Solutions for Success,” is scheduled for March 24. It aims to provide participants with insights into the legal frameworks governing corporate law, taxation, immigration, labor law, and regulatory compliance. Experts from CLG will discuss the factors influencing investment decisions in the African energy sector.

CLG’s vast experience in the African market is intended to equip businesses with effective management skills for successful involvement in Congo’s energy sector. The Republic of Congo plans to unveil its Gas Master Plan and new Gas Code at CEIF 2025, aiming to reduce energy imports and improve electricity access, which currently reaches only 50% of the population.

Additionally, an international oil and gas licensing round will be introduced at CEIF 2025, targeting investments in both marginal and deepwater blocks. This initiative seeks to boost oil production from 274,000 barrels per day to 500,000 barrels per day by 2027, aligning with national goals to stimulate exploration and production.

The workshop will provide participants with essential tools to navigate the complex regulatory landscape and develop strategies to mitigate legal risks. “At CEIF 2025, we recognize that navigating the complex legal and regulatory landscape is crucial for successful investment in Congo’s growing energy sector,” stated Daoudou Mohammad, Tax and Legal Director, CLG. “We aim to empower businesses with the knowledge to unlock the full potential of Congo’s energy resources.”

CLG is a prominent provider of legal and tax advisory services to multinational firms worldwide, offering tailored solutions to address complex challenges. With expert teams in numerous countries, including the Republic of Congo, CLG provides comprehensive support across multiple sectors such as energy and mining, assisting clients in seizing growth opportunities.

Registration for the workshop is currently open. CEIF 2025, supported by President Denis Sassou Nguesso and the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, aims to connect international investors with local stakeholders to explore energy opportunities and ongoing project expansions in the region.

The participation of CLG at the Congo Energy & Investment Forum underscores the importance of addressing legal and strategic challenges within the energy investment landscape of the Republic of Congo. By equipping stakeholders with essential knowledge and strategic tools, the workshop aims to foster substantial investment and growth in the sector. As Congo unveils new regulatory frameworks and opportunities, the forum serves as a pivotal platform for enhancing local and international investment in the region’s energy resources.
