Claro Colombia Enhances IT Efficiency with Oracle Cloud Migration
Claro Colombia has migrated its critical systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, reducing data latency to 4-5 seconds and deployment time to two weeks. The partnership involves a US$25 million investment and has led to significant growth for Oracle’s services in Colombia. Claro has also committed 15 billion pesos to enhance cybersecurity and integrate AI into its offerings.
Claro Colombia has significantly enhanced its IT operational efficiency by migrating critical systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This move has resulted in a reduction of transactional data latency in Bogotá to merely 4-5 seconds, while the deployment time for new infrastructure has been halved from four months to two weeks. The company reported improvements in productivity among its teams during its Tech Summit.
The collaboration between Claro and Oracle, established in 2022, involved a notable investment of US$25 million in a datacenter, along with the migration of over 100 on-premise servers crucial for Claro’s operations to Oracle’s cloud infrastructure. The hosting of Oracle’s Colombian cloud region at Claro’s US$100 million Triara datacenter, situated along the Bogotá-Medellín highway, forms a key part of this strategy.
In the inaugural year since its launch, Oracle’s cloud region witnessed considerable growth, expanding its customer base from seven to nearly 500 and increasing its service offerings from 20 to more than 150. Furthermore, consumption rates have doubled, indicating strong demand for the services being provided.
In addition to the migration, Claro also announced a substantial investment of 15 billion pesos (approximately US$3.6 million) aimed at enhancing technical capabilities and integrating artificial intelligence technology into its corporate offerings. This investment is primarily focused on bolstering cybersecurity measures within the organization.
