China-Senegal Dialogue Focuses on Cooperation and Development Opportunities
The “China in Springtime – Sharing Opportunities with the World” dialogue took place in Dakar on March 12, focusing on enhancing China-Africa cooperation for modernization and development. Officials and participants discussed China’s development experiences, poverty alleviation, and the significance of cross-cultural exchanges. On March 12, officials from China and Senegal convened in Dakar for the “China in Springtime – Sharing Opportunities with the World” dialogue, which aimed to enhance China-Africa cooperation for modernization and development. Sponsored by China Media Group (CMG), the event attracted a diverse array of participants, including officials, media representatives, scholars, and students from the University of Dakar.
The dialogue center stage focused on China’s development experiences and the collaborative opportunities between China and Africa. Participants engaged in detailed discussions covering various topics such as China’s poverty alleviation initiatives, its modernization efforts, and cooperation in trade, technology, and culture. Additionally, students had the chance to interact with speakers, inquiring about China’s technological advancements and their global implications.
In a keynote video address, Shen Haixiong, President and Editor-in-Chief of China Media Group, underscored the interdependence of China’s development and global prosperity. He advocated for collective global solutions to shared issues, promoting the importance of “open-source sharing” and cooperative growth over “decoupling and breaking supply chains.”
Amadou Tidiane Wone, the Ministerial Advisor to the President of Senegal, reiterated the commitment between China and Senegal to strengthen their strategic partnership for mutual benefit, indicating that China’s modernization offers valuable lessons and hope for African countries.
Moreover, Li Yan, Chargé d’Affaires at the Chinese Embassy in Senegal, acknowledged the transformative impact of rapidly evolving global dynamics and the growing prominence of Global South nations, particularly China and Africa, on the world stage.
Aldiouma Sow, another Ministerial Advisor, characterized the dialogue as significant for fostering engagement among youth, pointing out that China-Africa cooperation extends beyond mere economic exchanges to encompass ideological and cultural connections.
Hamidou Kassé, an influential thinker from the Dakar Think Tank Club, expressed that spring symbolizes hope and that China’s developmental successes ignite new potential within Africa. He emphasized the necessity for stronger alliances between Chinese and African think tanks and media to enrich mutual understanding and foster personal connections.
