UAE Confirms No Visa Ban on Pakistani Nationals
The UAE affirmed there is no official visa ban on Pakistanis, revealing a new visa policy requiring detailed documentation. Increased scrutiny arises from cases of fraud, visa overstays, and social media misuse by some Pakistani nationals. The Pakistan Embassy is actively addressing these issues with UAE officials to aid in the visa process.
On March 13, 2025, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) clarified that there is no official visa ban on Pakistani nationals, as communicated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) to the National Assembly. In response to a query raised by Dr. Nafisa Shah, the ministry reported that the UAE Embassy has implemented a new five-year visa policy requiring various documentation from applicants, including proof of return travel, hotel reservations, property ownership (when applicable), and a deposit of AED3,000.
The MoFA noted that heightened scrutiny of Pakistani visa applications has resulted from incidents involving fraudulent degrees, diplomas, and employment contracts, as well as instances of visa overstay and involvement in political or criminal activities among some Pakistani nationals. Additionally, issues concerning inappropriate social media usage by certain individuals from the community have been identified, prompting concern.
In light of these challenges, the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi has engaged with UAE officials at both ministerial and under-secretary levels to discuss these matters. Furthermore, senior officers within the Middle East Division of the ministry have been actively addressing these concerns with the UAE Embassy in Islamabad. The Ministry is also ensuring that recommendation letters for visa issuance are promptly forwarded to facilitate a smooth application process for Pakistani nationals seeking UAE visas.
The UAE has officially confirmed that there is no visa ban on Pakistani nationals despite increased scrutiny in the visa application process due to various challenges, including fraudulent documentation and issues surrounding visa overstays. The Pakistani government continues to engage with UAE authorities to address these concerns and streamline the application process for its citizens.
