President Bola Tinubu has requested the support of leaders and stakeholders from the South-South and Niger Delta regions to bolster his administration’s developmental initiatives. This statement was made by Seledi Thompson-Wakama, director of corporate affairs at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), during a media briefing in Port Harcourt.

Mr. Tinubu emphasized the urgent need for development in the Niger Delta, highlighting its significance by stating it is the “goose that lays the golden egg.” He stressed that without care for the region, crucial opportunities may be lost.

During his conversation with the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), which visited him at the Presidential Villa, Mr. Tinubu acknowledged his efforts to quell political tensions in Rivers State and encouraged collaboration among political leaders and developmental agencies to enhance regional growth.

Mr. Tinubu commended NDDC managing director, Samuel Ogbuku, for his contributions towards the economic and infrastructural improvements in the Niger Delta. He urged local leaders to adopt selfless leadership qualities to revitalize the region’s political and economic landscape.

King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Amanyanabo of Twon-Brass Kingdom and co-chairman of PANDEF’s Board of Trustees, lauded Mr. Tinubu’s commitment to the development of the South-South region and his decision to appoint Niger Delta indigenes to government roles, expressing confidence in the administration’s success.
