Peace and Security Council Addresses the Crisis in Sudan

The African Union’s Peace and Security Council met on 11 March 2025 to discuss the situation in Sudan, condemning the establishment of a parallel government by the RSF. The Council called for non-recognition of any such entity and urged for a ceasefire and inclusive peace talks to resolve the ongoing conflict that has displaced millions of civilians.

On 11 March 2025, the African Union’s Peace and Security Council (PSC) convened its 1264th meeting to address the pressing situation in Sudan. During the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Arrouchi, the Permanent Representative of Morocco to the AU and the Chairperson of the PSC for March, delivered remarks emphasizing the gravity of the circumstances.

In conclusion, the PSC firmly reiterated its commitment to uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan while addressing the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the ongoing conflict. It called for a ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian access, and the initiation of comprehensive peace talks that include all stakeholders.
