Gambia Engages Bangladesh for Support in Rohingya Genocide Case

Gambia’s Foreign Minister, Mamadou Tangara, met with Bangladeshi Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to discuss ongoing genocide proceedings against Myanmar for the persecuted Rohingyas. Tangara affirmed Gambia’s commitment to the cause, while Yunus sought greater international support for the case. He advocated for enhanced trade and collaboration between Gambia and Bangladesh, offering assistance as needed.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction over their recent agreement to collaborate in United Nations peacekeeping missions and discussed the transformative potential of microcredit in alleviating poverty across Africa, aiming to instill peace and stability within problematic regions.

Notable participants included Khalilur Rahman, the high representative for Rohingya issues, and Lamiya Morshed, the senior secretary overseeing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the Bangladesh government.
