Armenia and Iraq: Strengthening Economic Ties in the Middle East

On Tuesday, Ruben Soghoyan, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Iraq, affirmed the significance of Iraq as a vital economic partner within the Middle East. During an interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA) in Najaf Governorate, he highlighted ongoing collaboration between Armenia and Iraq across various sectors, including political, economic, commercial, tourism, and cultural exchanges.

Ambassador Soghoyan remarked that despite regional and global shifts, the established relations between Armenia and Iraq remain strong. He emphasized that the Armenian government is committed to expanding and enhancing cooperation within different areas.

Areas of joint efforts include trade, technological expertise, digital transformation, smart agriculture, renewable energy, and water treatment initiatives. Furthermore, he noted the presence of numerous Iraqi students enrolled in Armenian universities, in fields such as engineering, medicine, and humanities, and highlighted the support provided by the Armenian government to facilitate their studies.

Additionally, Soghoyan stressed the importance of continuing educational partnerships through the establishment of twinning agreements between universities in both nations.
