Ukrainian Officials to Engage in Talks with American Delegation in Saudi Arabia

A Ukrainian delegation, including Andrii Yermak and other officials, will meet with American counterparts in Saudi Arabia to discuss mineral agreements and restore relations following previous tensions. President Zelenskyy emphasized the commitment to constructive dialogue for peace amid ongoing conflict.

Recently, it has been announced that three Ukrainian officials will accompany Andrii Yermak, the Head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, to Saudi Arabia for discussions with their American counterparts. This delegation includes Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Yuliia Svyrydenko, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, and Pavlo Palisa, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian President’s Office.

The discussions will center on establishing an agreement concerning minerals and rebuilding relations with Washington, especially following the discord experienced during the last meeting between Presidents Zelenskyy and Donald Trump. President Zelenskyy confirmed his meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, on March 10, after which the Ukrainian officials will hold further talks with the American delegation.

Zelenskyy remarked, “On our side, we are fully committed to constructive dialogue, and we hope to discuss and agree on the necessary decisions and steps. Ukraine has been seeking peace from the very first second of this war. Realistic proposals are on the table. The key is to move quickly and effectively.”

The upcoming meeting in Saudi Arabia will involve discussions regarding the Russo-Ukrainian war. An anonymous Ukrainian official indicated that Yermak will lead the delegation, which may also include Defence Minister Rustem Umierov. Reports indicate that the US delegation will include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. The meetings are scheduled to take place on March 12.

In summary, a Ukrainian delegation comprising prominent officials is set to meet American counterparts in Saudi Arabia. The focus of these discussions will be to solidify agreements on minerals and restore diplomatic ties. Amidst a complicated geopolitical landscape, these meetings aim to foster constructive dialogue toward peace and resolution in the ongoing conflict.
